  • Your ceremony date must be a minimum of 3 calendar months after your notification appointment date.
  • Have you confirmed the following with the Solemniser (Religious Solemnisers include - priest, minister, pastor, Imam etc):
    • Place and date for the ceremony?
    • Has the Solemniser confirmed their availability for this date?
    • Is the Solemniser registered? Click on the following link to check the Register of Solemnisers: www.groireland.ie/solemniser.xls
  • Both parties must be present at the notification appointment.
  • To expedite the processing of your notification appointment you may download a “Capture of Data” sheet to be completed in Block Capitals and present this to the Registrar on the day of your appointment. Click here to download click here
  • Where one or both parties were born outside the Republic of Ireland (excluding those born in Denmark, Italy, France, Belgium, Romania, Latvia or Estonia) they will be required to obtain either of the following:
    • If your country of birth is party to the Hague Convention, an Apostille is required. This involves the addition of a certificate, either stamped on the document iteslf or attached to it. For further information on The Hague Convention please access their website; or,
    • If your country of birth is not party to The Hague Convention, your birth certificate must be authenticated by the relevant Embassy of origin
